Maggie @ The MEnd Collective

Clinical Philosophy

As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor-Associate, Registered Art Therapist-Provisional, and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist-Associate, I have 5 years of direct therapeutic alliance with folks of various backgrounds, relationship dynamics and mental health pursuits. I am specifically inclined to work with folks who are curious about using the creative process to heal, who are LGBTQ+, who are interested in exploring new ways to find or relocate their intuitive voice to reconstruct and tell their story, and who are in recovery from substance use, imposter syndrome, or wounded childhoods.

Compiling words together to form accurate depictions of personal narratives and feelings attached to life experiences can feel extremely daunting and overwhelming in talk therapy alone. With the invitation of art-making, medium exploration, movement, metaphor, sound and play, exploring creativity can provide non-threatening means to access empowerment, intimacy with self/loved ones, new growing edge perspectives, and coping skills for anxiety, depression, relationship discord, trauma, life transitions, identity exploration, grief, you name it! I am an advocate for shining the spotlight on learning primarily from the process of artmaking, rather than assigning all the credit to the product or outcome. I am trained to help clients discover how their process of creating art parallels the ways they live, no previous artistic skill at all necessary! Watercolor, gouache paint, oil pastels, collage, colored pencils, markers, masks, sand play are all available for use in session.

About Me

I came to the mountains without much thought and now it’s my thoughtful home. I received my BS in Psychology at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and attended an intimate consciousness-centered graduate school called Southwestern College in Santa Fe, New Mexico where I earned a dual MA in Art Therapy and Counseling. It was here where I began to develop my own practice in using the process of artmaking as at times a magnifying glass and at others a panoramic view to navigate the intricate world of emotions and truth, recognizing art as a language essential to connection and tracking time. My greatest poetic muses are witnessing humanity's unguarded moments, my wife, a pair of quirky dogs and my peach and celery colored couch.

Clinical Approach

I lead with a creativity-focused, gentle and firm integrative approach to therapy, highlighting humanistic, solution-focused, internal family systems parts work, narrative, acceptance and commitment and Jungian theories. I hold in high esteem the opportunity to work with you!
