Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counseling and treatment, we are able to help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life.
Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger post traumatic events. Fundamentally, trauma basically directs that we cannot connect with others and feel safe at the same time. We can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of healing.
Grief and Loss affect us all. Not solely limited to death, grief is the natural response to loss of anything- loss of a job, a terminal illness diagnosis, the ending of a relationship. All are losses and spark grief. Left unresolved, grief can remain dormant or grow into what feels like insurmountable pain. The Mend Collective is dedicated to shedding light onto your grief, and walking with you through the grief process. No matter the type of loss, it is worthy recognition and honor.
Often overlooked in treatment, the Sympathetic Nervous System, the part of our nervous system that directs the body's rapid involuntary response to perceived dangerous or stressful situations, often remains in a fight or fight, or freeze nervous system state unnecessarily. Polyvagal Theory and the necessary work with co-regulation are used to calm this system.
The Mend Collective was developed to create a space where safety can be felt and eye contact be made, all of which will convey a sense that you matter and are important. Often, spaces such as this are not afforded to LGBTQIA individuals and the anxiety associated with a sense that you haven't mattered as much as you should, for, sometimes, a lifetime, is so negatively impactful. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy can be used to explore and mend this impact.
Harm Reduction is a proactive and evidenced based approach used to reduce the negative personal and public health impacts associated with substance use. Our philosophy for individuals who use substances is to support each client, providing counseling services as they set their own goals and become as healthy as possible. The Mend Collective believes in humanism, pragmatism, individualism, autonomy, incrementalism, and accountability without termination.
