Welcome! I am Hannah Clayton, my pronouns are (she/her/hers). I am a Western North Carolina native who enjoys backpacking, rock climbing, live music, and playing with my two doggos. I live by two mantras; 1. You are NEVER too cool to dance, 2. They don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.
My therapeutic practice is rooted in social justice values and the idea that individual healing is not separate from the healing of larger harmful systems. I continue to seek education and training on racism, transphobia, homophobia, fat-phobia, and ableism. I believe this is a life-long learning process and am committed to turning my education into real action steps.
I will strive to facilitate an environment where you feel free enough to come as you are. I believe that together we can discover the type of love towards yourself that could lead you to a life filled with joy.
My approach is warm, compassionate, and grounded in trauma-informed acceptance-based approaches. I work with adults and teens of all genders/identities. I am LGBQIA+ affirming, sex-positive, and polyamorous affirming. I work collaboratively with my clients to support them in healing from trauma, women's issues, relationship struggles, anxiety, and body image issues. I approach therapy from a holistic lens that honors the mind-body-spirit connection. To me, therapy is about finding ways to support our innate capacity to heal and re-remembering what vitality feels like. I continue to feel in awe of the power of human connection in overcoming life’s challenges. I specialize in helping people recover from trauma, anxiety, body image issues, and eating disorders. I also have specialized experience working with people who have experienced interpersonal trauma such as abusive relationships, sexual violence, and childhood abuse.
My greatest joy in the therapeutic process is helping others connect with themselves so they may uncover their innate ability to live their most meaningful, most fulfilled life. I view the counseling process through a person-centered lens- which means that I value and uphold empathy, congruence, authenticity, and acceptance of your unique values and needs.
