Essentially, we talk. We talk about what is happening in your life and how you feel about it. But therapy is about more than just the content of your story; it is about the process of how you are living it.
My approach is rooted in the here-and-now. When your mind is racing or you feel stuck in old patterns, we work on bringing you back to your immediate experience. I’m interested in how you are showing up today and what is actually happening with you at this moment. We try to get closer to that and to allow ourselves to feel it and see where it leads. Doing this requires trust that we have to build together. While that can be scary and unpredictable, it is exactly where the real work happens.
My path to becoming a therapist wasn't a straight line. I earned my bachelor's in Philosophy out of a curiosity about what people believe and why. I then spent years as an artist, painting and working odd jobs, before realizing I wanted to put my interest in the human experience into service for others.
I live in Western North Carolina with my fiancée and our dogs, and I still maintain my practice as a painter. These parts of my life remind me that while we are all vastly different, we share the same fundamental task of figuring out how to navigate being alive for this brief time. It’s a wild experience, and I’ve built my practice as a space where we can acknowledge that reality and explore what’s going on both inside and out.
