Cherie @ The Mend Collective

Welcome! I am Cherie, and I want to support you with depression, anxiety, relief from childhood and generational trauma, sex therapy, culture-related stress, personality disorders, self-doubt/criticism, and other mental health concerns.

Meet CHerie Montou

Talking about sex can feel harder than doing it. Many of us were raised to believe sex was dirty,

shameful, or even dangerous—and those old stories don’t just disappear when we enter

relationships. They can make it difficult to experience sex as pleasurable, connective, or free.

You may find yourself wondering: Where does the shame go? Can I trust again after betrayal?

Is it possible to feel playful, erotic, even simply relaxed? Perhaps you’re bored or fearful and

want to explore, to truly feel like a wildling in bed. You have made yourself small for way too

long due to societal, familial, or cultural stress around sex. Well, no more!

I specialize in helping individuals and couples (of all identities and relational styles) untangle

these questions. Whether you’re healing from sexual or religious trauma, navigating infidelity,

unpacking the weight of purity culture, or simply feeling stuck and disconnected, therapy can

help you rewrite your sexual story. You’ll create the safety, intimacy, eroticism, and curiosity

needed to explore not just what feels broken—but also what feels possible.

My Approach

I bring compassion, curiosity, and a little wild-heartedness to my work, balanced with clear

structure and evidence-based methods. My toolkit includes Internal Family Systems (IFS),

Narrative Therapy, ACT, DBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Gottman-informed practices for

couples. I believe therapy is both reflective and practical: you’ll have space to explore deeply

and tools you can use in real life.

What we can work on together

 ● Sexual shame & purity culture – unlearning old narratives to embrace pleasure and

self-trust

● Sexuality across the lifespan – navigating evolving needs at every age and stage

● Sex & disability – finding creative, affirming pathways to intimacy

● Aging & sexuality – support for libido changes, menopause, erectile challenges, and

more

● Kink & BDSM – non-judgmental exploration of desires and dynamics

● Polyamory & non-monogamy – communication, boundaries, and relationship skills

● LGBTQ+ affirming care – safe, celebratory space for all identities

● Anxiety, depression, trauma recovery – tending to mental health alongside sexual

wellness

About me

I grew up in Cajun country and New Orleans, raised in a big, family with crawfish boils and spicy

crabs at the table. Since 2001, Asheville has been home, where I recharge through hiking,

watercolor, and powerlifting. My nature is curious, open-minded, and non-judgmental—I believe

your story deserves to be heard without shame.

I hold a Master’s in Education, a Bachelor’s in Cultural Anthropology, and am a Licensed

Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA).

Fees and Access

● Individuals: $150/hr (BCBSNC, Aetna, or private pay)

● Couples: $250 intake, $195/hr (private pay only)

Therapy requires more than money—it asks for trust, vulnerability, and sometimes a

little homework. My promise is to give you the time, space, and guidance you need to

feel safe and ready to go deep.
