clinical approach

By reading this, you’re demonstrating two important components of effective psychotherapy—effort and motivation. Therapy with me is action-based and goal-centered. It takes a dual focus on tackling current problems to produce immediate results, combined with a longer-term focus on building the future you want for yourself. I work with clients of all ages, dealing with issues like depression, anxiety, ADHD, ASD, ODD, peer/parental conflict, and academic, behavioral, and financial challenges. My clients and I enjoy listening to music in sessions, as well as going for walks, drawing, or playing games to aid treatment.

During sessions, we use a blend of evidence-based techniques borrowed from popular frameworks like solution-focused brief therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and motivational interviewing. We set goals together, determine action steps, overcome barriers to success, and establish clear purpose and motivation for goal achievement. You will learn skills that are practical and relevant to your treatment on topics like effective communication, interpersonal conflict, thought patterns, emotional regulation, and impulse control. Sessions are client-centered, strength-based, and grounded in core values of warmth, genuineness, positive regard, empathy, authenticity, and respect.

Born in MA, raised in CT, Canadian, attended graduate school in FL, recently moved to Asheville. My travels have taught me something really important, everybody, everywhere, needs some sort of help.
